Wenyi Cai is only 17 and a student at Naperville Central High School, but her brilliance is already winning plaudits--and money...

Cai won a $50,000 scholarship from the Davidson Institute for Talent Development, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting gifted young people. Cai received the award for her project titled, "Quantitative Analysis of Highly Transient Gasoline Sprays by Time-Resolved Synchroton X-Radiography." Whew! The award went to only 17 students nationally who are gifted in science or math. She will be honored in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 25.
