Each year the AATG writes a test to assess proficiency in German. Teachers nationwide can offer the exam to their students. The awards program has been around for 30 years and about 25,000 students take the exam each year.

This is an excellent opportunity for students of German. Outstanding secondary students are awarded a four-week study trip to Germany, with a family stay and attendance at a Gymnasium and participation in tours.
