While an older book, this volume is still very valuable in presenting the roots of both acceleration and enrichment in American schools, the positive aspects and difficulties of each, and the early successes of the talent search models. As with most of the rest of the gifted education literature, studies on acceleration continue to be primarily positive. Educators, parents, and psychologists will find much useful information in this older volume that is still appropriate for curriculum planning for profoundly gifted youngsters today.
