Description

In Concordia Language Villages they have a variety of languages for you to chose from. I went to the Finnish Camp. If you are not familiar with the language that you choose, the one week course is recommended for you. If you are intermediate and have already done the one week course and you are ready to proceed and do the next level in the language that you pick, you go for the to two week course. If you are advanced (or very good at the language) take the one month course, unless you don't feel comfortable staying away from home for such long periods. Keep in mind that you can still take the two week course until you are comfortable with it. You can stay at that level until you are comfortable staying away from home.

My camp had 73 kids and 17 counselors. They were really nice. We did some indoor activities when the weather was good and outdoor activities when the weather was bad. I really liked the fun and games we did outdoors. We got to go on nature hikes with the counselor of my cabin and I also got play Finnish baseball and target paper airplane shooting for prizes. Another "pro" is that they shipped all of the items that I forgot (like my coat) to our house after the camp. The counselors had promised to me that they'd look for my coat, and they did. These are the pros. There are millions of cons. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . mosquitoes.

This is a great way to learn a second or a third language. The Concordia experience utilizes the "natural approach to language acquisitions." The campers have a great time and the learn to speak the language.
