Description

Through this week-long summer program, which is a part of the Barnard Pre-College Program, young women study the complex relationship between gender and leadership at Barnard College in New York City. These students will develop action-oriented leadership plans and learn from college staff, alumnae, and professional facilitators in a series of workshops, discussions, and seminars. Writing and reading assignments along with site visits in New York City will also play a key role. Participants will learn what it is like to be a student leader at Barnard College from a campus mentor. Most important, students will be able to apply what they have learned by participating in a Leadership Lab project. Working in small groups, they will design and execute a project to improve the pre-college community and then share what they have learned at a student-run conference.
