Description

"The Center for Musical Theatre Arts is unique in its approach to children's theatre. The Center brings together children of various ages to work cooperatively in the production of an original one-act musical comedy. From auditions to final performance, students will participate in the complete process of producing a play. Students will learn team-building skills as we build an acting ensemble and prepare for a performance. Students will participate in auditioning (acting, singing and dancing), be cast in a role, and rehearse for performance of an original one-act musical comedy. Each morning will begin with exercises in team-building, concentration, listening, taking focus, stage movement and improvisation, as well as musical exercises involving the voice and rhythm. Morning classes will be followed with the day's first rehearsal.

If you are interested in getting involved with theatre, this is a great way to immerse yourself in this atmosphere. From beginning to end, you live the life of an actor and it is very exciting to put on a performance at the end of the two weeks.

Mrs. Lehman is a great inspiration. She knows her ins and outs of the theatre and she treats her students not only like actors but as adults. She trusts us and helps us excel in acting and in respect for the theatre. [Comment submitted August 2007.]
