Description

Everyone in town thinks Meg Murry is volatile and dull-witted, and that her younger brother, Charles Wallace, is dumb. People are also saying that their physicist father has run off and left their brilliant scientist mother. Spurred on by these rumors and an unearthly stranger, the tesseract-touting Mrs. Whatsit, Meg and Charles Wallace and their new friend Calvin O'Keefe embark on a perilous quest through space to find their father. In doing so, they must travel behind the shadow of an evil power that is darkening the cosmos, one planet at a time.

This book is great! I read the book in a day, so I really recommend this book. It was a story that got you involved, so what happened to the characters became important. Plus the plot was very intriguing. There is also three sequels, so the fun keeps going!

This book is quite interesting in that it "invents" the 5th dimension Tessering, or the rather instantaneous travel from a position in space, and of course they fight the evil being that controls minds.

This is a very exciting book! I especially liked how Meg got Charles Wallace away from It. I just finished listening to Madeleine L'Engle read it on tape and it was even better.

This book helped me to use my imagination more, and to think in a whole different way. I think that older kids such as 8 or 9 would understand it most, although 6 or 7 can sometimes be an exception. The book isn't too long, but once you finish you'd wish it was longer!

This a really good story. It tells about the power of love without all the romantic stuff and it also talks about scientific theories.

This is an extremely good book! It isn't a slow-starter. My favorite part is when the Happy Medium looks in her globe and sees the star defeat the shadow. I couldn't wait to read the next book in the series!

This is a great book. I've read it a couple of times, and I have enjoyed it more and more each time. This is one of those books that gets better the more you read it. I think my favorite character is Meg, because she is so different from everyone else. And, she also figures out how to get Charles Wallace away from IT. Now, if you're going to ask me who or what IT is, don't. You'll just have to read the book, and trust me, you won't regret it. (Not "it" as in the thing I was talking about, "it" as in reading the book.)

This is a great book because it holds your interest from beginning to end. The author is very good at portraying the heroes and heroines; she makes me feel like I have met them. She also creates good plot lines. The only problem with this book is that you immediately have to read the rest of the series because you want to know what happens next!

This is one of my all-time favorite books. I read it many years ago and I just finished it for the second time in the last few weeks. I think this is a terrific book for gifted youth because it not only features three gifted characters (Meg, Calvin, and Charles Wallace) and their personal struggles, but it also poses serious questions to the reader about individuality and freedom. This book has made an indelible impression on how I look at my life and human rights because I think there should never be a society like there was on Camazotz.
