This book, as well as it's companion volume "The Aware Baby", were two of my favorite early parenting books. Dr. Solter (who studied with Piaget) stresses respect for children's emotions and intellect while balancing parent's needs and expectations. Full of practical suggestions and support, each chapter ends with simple, specific exercises aimed to add clarity to our parenting.
