"World" is colorful, interesting, and advertisement-free;it also benefits from access to National Geographic's photographers. Still, the articles are often short, splashy, and shallow, succumbing to the current media style of presenting brightly illustrated snippets of information, frustratingly empty of the depth that you know NG could give. My kids do read it for fun--but in addition to the real National Geographic Magazine, not instead of it.
