This magazine is put out by the Smithsonian Institution. Its subject matter is eclectic, though mostly centered around history of cultures, art, language, geography, and sciences. Though targeted at adults, many articles are suitable for intelligent children as well.

We have enjoyed this magazine, both for homeschooling and just for general interest. For my children, I preview the magazine to locate appropriate/inappropriate articles for their level of emotional and intellectual sophistication. Smithsonian's magazine for children, Muse, often has articles related to the articles in the adults' magazine.

This is a great magazine. It has interesting, informative articles. I recommend it to any gifted young person (or adult).

I subscribe to this magazine. I really enjoy it because it features a wide range of topics, from current events to the arts to history to science. I remember in particular one article about Maria Montessori, an Italian woman who became a doctor in a time that that was very uncommon, and eventually founded Montessori schools. A great magazine for gifted youth.
