My son participated in the CTY program beginning in 6th grade just "to see how I compare to others". The experience was validating and empowering. By 8th grade, his boredom spurned him to initiate an independent study program for mathematics. He completed two years of public school math in six months by taking CTY Distance Education courses. The experience was excellent and he felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment upon completion. We were ever so grateful to have this option readily available to him.
